My name is Hiba, and I serve as the Director of Communications for Project Neuro. My passion for this work comes from personal experience, after witnessing the impact that neurological and neurodegenerative conditions have on individuals and their families. These moments shaped my commitment to advocacy, clear communication, and community-centered support.
During my undergraduate studies at Boston University, I worked with MATLAB-based models to study neurological disorders. This experience strengthened my interest in the science behind these conditions, but it also revealed the importance of understanding the human side of every diagnosis. Patients and caregivers face emotional, physical, and logistical challenges that research alone cannot fully capture.
Alongside this work, I co-founded the Blanket Story Project, a nonprofit that provides essential items such as blankets, clothing, and hygiene supplies to individuals experiencing homelessness or displacement. The project also focuses on storytelling, inviting people to share their experiences in order to restore dignity, connection, and community. This initiative taught me how powerful it can be to meet people with compassion and to center their voices in any support effort.
At Project Neuro, I work to help connect evidence-based information with accessible communication and meaningful support. Our mission is to raise awareness, provide reliable resources, and build a community that understands both the scientific and personal sides of neurological conditions.
I am committed to helping Project Neuro grow as a space where patients, caregivers, advocates, and community members can find clarity, connection, and support.
